Interior Design — This Minimalist Home Is Surprisingly Family-Friendly
Designer Jeanette Hlinka shares a modern, minimalist, black and white home she designed for a single mother and her ten-year-old son. See how she created a streamlined space that looks picture-perfect, but is also completely livable. While most of the furniture is white, Jeanette used low-maintenance materials like easy-to-clean vinyl for the dining chairs and a washable slipcover on the sofa. In the living room, a modern black fireplace adds a graphic punch to the all-white space, while a large abstract painting in the dining room steals the show. A dated kitchen was transformed into a streamlined space with shaker-front cabinetry and sleek appliances. The master bedroom exudes the understated luxury of a chic hotel room, while the boy’s bedroom is clean and minimalist with a few playful accessories.

Industrial Design: "American Look" 1958 General Motors Populuxe Classic Film
Support this channel: https://www.patreon.com/jeffquitney see also: American Thrift 1962 Chevrolet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suuXxJIyk6I more at http://quickfound.net/ "The definitive Populuxe film on 1950s automotive, industrial, interior and architectural design." Originally a public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archive, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and equalization. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_design Wikipedia license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ Industrial design is the use of a combination of applied art and applied science to improve the aesthetics, ergonomics, and usability of a product, but it may also be used to improve the product's marketability and production. The role of an industrial designer is to create and execute design solutions for problems of form, usability, physical ergonomics, marketing, brand development, and sales. The first use of the term "industrial design" is often attributed to the designer Joseph Claude Sinel in 1919 (although he himself denied this in interviews), but the discipline predates 1919 by at least a decade. Its origins lie in the industrialization of consumer products. For instance the Deutscher Werkbund, founded in 1907 and a precursor to the Bauhaus, was a state-sponsored effort to integrate traditional crafts and industrial mass-production techniques, to put Germany on a competitive footing with England and the United States... Notable industrial designers A number of industrial designers have made such a significant impact on culture and daily life that they have attained a level of notability beyond that of an average designer. Alvar Aalto, renowned as an architect, also designed a significant number of household items, such as chairs, stools, lamps, a tea-cart, and vases. Raymond Loewy was a prolific American designer who is responsible for the Royal Dutch Shell corporate logo, the original BP logo (in use until 2000), the PRR S1 steam locomotive, the Studebaker Starlight (including the later iconic bulletnose), as well as Schick electric razors, Electrolux refrigerators, short-wave radios, Le Creuset French ovens, and a complete line of modern furniture, among many other items. Richard A. Teague, who spent most of his career with the American Motor Company, originated the concept of using interchangeable body panels so as to create a wide array of different vehicles using the same stampings. He was responsible for such unique automotive designs as the Pacer, Gremlin, Matador coupe, Jeep Cherokee, and the complete interior of the Eagle Premier. Viktor Schreckengost designed bicycles manufactured by Murray bicycles for Murray and Sears, Roebuck and Company. With engineer Ray Spiller, he designed the first truck with a cab-over-engine configuration, a design in use to this day. Schreckengost also founded The Cleveland Institute of Art's school of industrial design. Charles and Ray Eames were most famous for their unique furniture design, such as the Eames Lounge Chair Wood and Eames Lounge Chair. Another example is German industrial designer Dieter Rams, who is closely associated with the consumer products company Braun (where he worked until 1995) and the Functionalist school of industrial design. He is famous for his "ten principles to good design", in addition to designing many iconic products at Braun. More recently, Jonathan Ive, the Senior Vice President of Design at Apple Inc., is credited for designing products for the company, which has a strong philosophy in aesthetics. His designs include the iPod and iPhone... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Googie_architecture Googie architecture is a form of modern architecture, a subdivision of futurist architecture influenced by car culture and the Space and Atomic Ages. Originating in Southern California during the late 1940s and continuing approximately into the mid-1960s, Googie-themed architecture was popular among motels, coffee houses and gas stations. The school later became widely known as part of the Mid-Century modern style, elements of which represent the populuxe aesthetic, as in Eero Saarinen's TWA Flight Center. The term "Googie" comes from a now defunct coffee shop and cafe built in West Hollywood. Features of Googie include upswept roofs, curvaceous, geometric shapes, and bold use of glass, steel and neon. Googie was also characterized by Space Age designs depicting motion, such as boomerangs, flying saucers, atoms and parabolas, and free-form designs such as "soft" parallelograms and an artist's palette motif. These stylistic conventions represented American society's fascination with Space Age themes and marketing emphasis on futuristic designs. As with the Art Deco style of the 1930s, Googie became less valued...

History of Design: Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Constructivism, Bauhaus, Swiss, Modernism
GRAPHIC DESIGN STYLES THROUGHOUT HISTORY Design Style I: Art Nouveau Art Nouveau flourished between 1890 and 1910 and influenced all genres of art and design, from painting and illustration, to furniture and interior decoration, to architecture, fashion and jewelry. This style is characterized by: • stylized, curving forms and asymmetrical lines • floral, botanic and nature-based motifs • an emphasis on decoration and an abandonment of traditional clarity • the fusion of structure and ornament • a deliberate break from 19th century historicism Design Style II: Bauhaus The Bauhaus school operated in Germany between 1919 and 1933 and was founded by architect Walter Gropius. The school's philosophy emphasized the merger of arts with craftsmanship. Some characteristics of the movement are: • an emphasis on simple lines and shape • generous use of negative space and airy motifs • modern materials that often become a focus of the design • form is dictated by the function of the piece • reflection of modernity and the power of industrialism and mechanization Design Style III: Constructivism Russian Constructivism had its greatest influence between 1919 and 1934 and continued to influence Soviet art styles through the Soviet era. The style was avant-garde and attempted to "construct art" by applying abstraction to art and design and embodying Communist ideals. The movement spread from design and architecture across all art genres, including literature, music and film. Characteristics include: • a clear, formal order • emphasis on geometric shapes and clean lines and planes • bold, symbolic and impersonal colorings • simple, spare economic organization • a respect for folk traditions • social, economic or political messaging Constructivist examples from Soviet posters: Design Style IV: Art Deco Art Deco dominated style in the 1920s and 30s and is closely linked with the influence of jazz. As its name implies, Art Deco had its genesis in the decorative arts, but also included fine and performing arts and has had a lasting influence in architecture. Its defining characteristics include: • simple, clean shapes with a streamlined look and feel • geometric ornamentation and/or motifs drawing upon natural flora and fauna • modern, man-made materials in combination with natural materials • vibrant colors and use of light • a feeling of glamour and elegance Design Style V: International Typographic Style International Typographic Style (the Swiss School) developed in Switzerland in the decades following World War II. This style can be interpreted as an artistic reaction to the chaotic pre-war period by attempting to establish clarity, objectivity and order in the world. Defining characteristics include: • adherence to the grid structure • feeling of austerity and rigidity • emphasis on sans-serif typography • asymmetrical layouts and lines Examples of Swiss School graphic design: Design Style VI: Modernism: New York School The gathering of painters, sculptors, designers, musicians and writers in New York City in the 1940s, 50s and 60s put the city at the forefront of art worldwide. These artists were inspired by the avant-garde painting movements of the early 20th century, and abstract expressionism, minimalism and pop art were branches that developed out of the New York school in the 1950s. The graphic designers of this period were consciously responding to the Swiss Movement, by loosening up structure and exploring abstraction. Characteristics of this style include: • combining of photography and typography • creative and generous use of negative space • spontaneity in visual imagery and coloring • informal organization • integration of form with function Design Style VII: Post-Modernism Post-Modernism is the contemporary school of thought that we have moved past the "modern" and into something new. Post-Modernism has influenced every aspect of the contemporary world, from art to technology to culture, and whichever form it takes, grasps a particular philosophy as a way to inform the design. Post-Modernism is acutely aware of the past. Some characteristics include: • borrowing of styles, motifs and ideas from the past to combine them into new forms • use of irony and/or cynicism by highlighting convention and rejecting ideas of progress • use of typography as central idea, sacrificing readability for form • the melding of high and low culture • appropriation in all its forms, from referencing and homage to copying and collage

Every Woman Deserves This Pretty CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN Designs (pictures)
Style Guide for a Contemporary Kitchen Clean, simple and uncluttered, this look also remains livable with touches of the traditional. Clean and Sleek The contemporary kitchen borrows high functionality and streamlined surfaces from the modernist design movement, but its style often incorporates traditional ideas as well for a sleek but livable feel. "Clean and simple is the underlying philosophy for contemporary design," says designer Cameron Austin of Beth Haley Design in Nashville, Tenn. "My approach differs from client to client, but I really love using simple white cabinetry with clean lines and then adding texture and warmth with things like interesting tiles or a dark hardwood floor." Unlike the term "modern," which refers to an actual historical design movement and has a strict interpretation of what elements can and can't be included, "contemporary" simply means "in the now." Popular contemporary retailers such as Pottery Barn, West Elm and Crate & Barrel carry items that usually sport clean lines but are inspired by a host of design styles: Danish modern, Arts and Crafts, traditional, '50s ranch and modern industrial, for example. Steel and White Stainless steel and white appliances make the easiest transition to a contemporary look, Austin says, because they balance so nicely with warm wood tones. "We're steering away from black appliances now," Austin says. The list of details a contemporary kitchen can accommodate is endless; funky touches are welcome, and you're practically unlimited in color choices. But the one thing that can wreck a contemporary look is clutter, whether visual (too many colors or textures) or physical (countertops covered in knickknacks). Stick to the 60-30-10 rule for colors: Sixty percent of the kitchen should be one dominant color, 30 percent a secondary color and 10 percent an accent color. Store gadgets in drawers or in sleek containers; relegate cooking ingredients to the pantry. Getting the Look ou can achieve a contemporary look in your kitchen with small additions or major changes. Austin offers her ideas for super contemporary updates to ordinary kitchens: Breathe life into old surfaces with tile. "A small area of gorgeous, handmade tile creates a strong design impact," Austin says. "Unusual sizes, such as 1" x 9", can make a stunning focal point, and I also love penny tiles, which are round mosaic tiles the size of a penny. We recently did a kitchen with a black penny tile backsplash over a white marble countertop. It was stunning." She suggests using tile for the area above your cooktop or the wall over your kitchen desk, if you have one. Don't forget paint. A bold paint choice can transform a surface from boring and clichéd to contemporary and fresh. "You can bring life to an old island by painting it a high-gloss red or a deep gray color," Austin says. Let there be light. "Adding modern lighting to a kitchen across your island or peninsula is stylish and smart," Austin says. She suggests pendant lighting for a sharp look. Rejuvenate plain cabinets with a contemporary material. "Take the center panels out of your recessed cabinet doors and replace them with pieces of remnant 3form," Austin says. 3form is an eco-friendly translucent composite resin material available in a variety of stunning colors and designs; you can order remnants from the company's website. Show It Off Put your most prized items on display instead of stacking them in a closed cabinet. Austin recommends suspending 2-inch-thick shelving from floor to ceiling; if you like, cover the wall with inexpensive subway tile to add texture to the background. "You can display pottery collections or store a beautiful assortment of brightly colored mixing bowls and glasses, which creates both visual appeal and functional storage," she says. Got a big budget? Austin's dream kitchen update is one "where contemporary meets couture," she says. Her material of choice is super-smooth glazed lava stone, or basalt, a naturally occurring rock formed from volcanic eruptions. "Lava stone is the pièce de résistance of countertops," Austin says. "Nothing is more beautiful, but it's rarely used, probably because of its cost per square foot [$210 per square foot and up] and shipping cost. I envision it as a glossy, vibrant yellow or green island countertop in a kitchen with simple white Shaker-style recessed-panel cabinetry, a slab of white statuary marble for a backsplash, and an antique wood floor stained a dark coffee-bean color, laid on the diagonal or in a herringbone pattern." The Tribune Tower is an integration of a traditional European architectural style with modern American architecture. The tower showcases the Gothic Revival style inspired by medieval gothic cathedrals. Delicate tracery, arched portals, carved stone ornamentation, and a decorative crown with flying buttresses are mixed in the building’s form with the streamlined design characteristics of the Art Deco style, popular at the time. It's streamlined to the couples needs, takes up a very small footprint and has all the advantages of a tiny house, yet it's also not restricted to the standard tiny house dimensions and road-travel limitations, allowing the small home to be much higher and a bit wider than a conventional tiny house. About Star Citizen 3.2► Starting with Alpha 3.1, players will find new ways to interact with each other. The Character Customizer is now accessible from the main menu and allows players to distinguish their avatars with various combinations of hair style, skin tone, and more. This is just our first iteration of the system and we have a lot more planned for future releases, but even at this early stage it is exciting to see all the new and varied faces exploring the halls of Port Olisar and Grim HEX. Starting with this patch, players will also be able create Service Beacons from the Contract Manager in their mobiGlas and hire other players to provide Combat Assistance or Personal Transport. This new system will be a huge boon to players who may need a ride back to a station from the wilds of Crusader’s three explorable moons, and represents a whole new revenue stream for players willing to lend their combat skills to aid others. This feature is also an initial iteration that will be improved and expanded in future releases, but it’s an important step in further developing the kind of emergent gameplay that is intended for the Persistent Universe. Not only that, the bevy of new flyable ships and open-canopy vehicles introduced in this patch will provide players exciting options for crewing up and exploring the Stanton system together. Measuring over 150 meters, the Reclaimer is the largest ship currently in-game. This heavy industrial salvage ship from Aegis Dynamics is so massive that the environment art team has expanded Port Olisar’s landing pads to accommodate it. Explorers will want to get behind the sticks of the Anvil Terrapin. The ship’s robust shield system and distinctly layered armor make it ideal for exploring untamed space. Racers looking to experience breakneck speed can climb into the MISC Razor. The ship will be a perennial Murray Cup contender thanks to advanced Xi’an thruster technology and a streamlined design. Plus, exploring Crusader’s moons just got more exciting with the addition of the Aopoa Nox Kue and Tumbril Cyclone. The Nox Kue is a special variant of the renowned Xi’an open-canopy racer that Aopoa redesigned specifically for Humans. The Tumbril Cyclone is a rugged off-road ground vehicle ready to tackle any terrain. Both vehicles are perfect for traversing Cellin, Daymar, and Yela, which also received upgrades in Alpha 3.1, thanks to planetary technology improvements that updated surface textures and topography for more visually dynamic and detailed landscapes. Additionally, the development team polished many of the exciting features that launched with the 3.0 patch in December. Updates to the IFCS (flight control), AI, the Personal Manager tool on each player’s mobiGlas, ship weapons, ship damage physics and overall performance optimization, all are working in concert to improve the overall Star Citizen gameplay experience. #StarCitizen #Alpha3.2 #BDSSE

How To Make A Logo Design & How to Create A Logo In Photoshop Easy With Adobe CS6
If you'd like to donate: https://www.paypal.me/Todaysbeats Learn how to make a logo and how to create a logo design layout in Adobe Photoshop for beginners using the Redartmedia1 approach. I'm going to show you how I approach Logo designs and how you can copy my approach on where to get your ideas and inspiration from after your client gives you instructions on what they may need from you. Meanwhile Im going to share a little insight on the history of logos with you. Graphic symbols and elements that we witness around us today are conclusive answers from numerous graphic techniques studied and implemented in the last two centuries. From floral and artsy to minimalist and flat, the history and evolution of logo design techniques have shaped our present understanding of shapes and symbols. Once you go through this interactive microsite, you will realize the importance of logos in everyday life and how they have evolved over the last two centuries. Do you find Apple’s logo history mesmerizing? Or Starbucks logo mysterious? These famous logos mark important milestones in the history and evolution of logo, a philosophy of design that have long helped us recite a thousand words of speech through one single symbol. This international movement redefined the usage of decorative elements in logo design by using simple forms in medieval, romantic and folk styles of decoration with heavy textures and illustrated initials. This movement serves as a bridge between traditional Victorian era values and the modern movement. Check out the best logos of this movement. Art Nouveau style is a popular graphic design philosophy best known for its flat, outlined illustrations and hand-drawn typefaces. This new-found art movement inspired logo designers to adopt natural forms and structures in their logo designs. Early modern was a time when graphic designers broke-free from traditional roots of designing and went on to experiment with traditional design styles. The logo designs were geometrically perfect with minimalistic approach having clean type and photos instead of illustrations. This was the era when logo designers started putting logo design functions before its form, something that prevails even today. German Expressionism is a style of logo designing that is charged with an emotional and spiritual vision of the world. It adopts the neo-noir form of designing with straight angular lines, geometric figures, abstract shapes, and religious and cultural elements in typical black and white colors. Art Deco is an eclectic style that combines traditional craft motifs with mechanical elements and materials. You can spot a product of Art Deco design by the usage of rich colors, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation. Such logos represent luxury, glamour, exuberance and faith in social and technological progress. The Late Modern Era was a period in arts when a non-decorative approach was implemented, which produced logo designs with new simplicity. Late Modern era design styles simplified and dramatized the integration of text and image by either pictorial collage elements or overlapping shapes in logo design. Postmodernism was a time when graphic designers re-established interest in ornamentation, symbolism and visual wit. This era challenged designers’ obsession with progress and deliberately violated the Bauhaus tenet. You can easily identify postmodern logo designs by simply looking for funny-looking characters, odd color combination and random textures. The Digital era isn't exactly a historical movement because it’s happening in real time even today. In fact, Digital era logos are not about being just digital, they can be anything they choose to be, like; messy, chaotic, extreme, absurd, layered, illegible, unstable, expressive, poetic, and a bit grungy. Minimalism is a style that uses pared down design elements (sans stylistic element) to offer illusions of three dimension and is focused on a minimalist use of simple elements, typography and flat colors in logo designs. It has been termed by logo designers as one of the finest techniques since it allows user interface designs to be more streamlined and efficient. Logo design has come a very long over the last 200 years. Over time, open innovation and a collaborative approach have changed the dynamics of the graphic design industry. And when it comes to open innovation, the one name that probably comes to mind is YOU! You can now do your own or do designs for others starting at the standard of $259 and up.

Streamlined Section Drawings
Derive high-quality sections from your model without wasting time making repetitive adjustments. A new default display for section attributes provides universally acceptable defaults, and a new context-sensitive right-click menu allows you to generate sections directly from section elevation markers or orphaned section lines. Create better drawings by generating a profile line that emphasizes the cut of your sections. Plus, you can now override object visibility beyond or before the cut plane using the correct line weights and styles. The object visibility control is the same for horizontal and vertical sections. https://www.vectorworks.net/en/2019

Art Deco inspired small home design - Nautical Moderne
This was inspired by a design I found in a plan book from the early 1930s. I increased the size a bit. The style is sometimes called "Nautical Moderne", as it was inspired by the great passenger cruise liners of the time, with porthole windows and curved balconies. On the ground floor I swapped the locations of the kitchen and bedroom, so that the kitchen faced the street and the bedroom looked out on the garden. This gave it more privacy. I also added a full bath on the ground floor, creating a proper Master Bedroom suite. On the upper floor I gained the space for an additional room. I've shown it open to the stairs and opening out onto roof decks. It would make a great play space for kids. But it could also be enclosed to provide a fourth bedroom if needed. I did the design in Sketchup 8. I've kept the rendering very simple, no shadows, no landscaping, in order to keep the file size down. When I get better equipment I'll flesh out the model. I hope you like it. Please feel free to leave comments.

Exterior Design – 6 Tips For A Weekend Balcony Makeover
See how H&H stylist Reiko Caron turned a small condo balcony into a summer hot spot. Get her expert tips on decorating a tiny concrete space on a budget with these six easy steps! Reiko used low, streamlined furniture to keep the balcony looking spacious. Double-duty pieces were also key, such as cube tables that double as seats or even ice buckets once flipped over, and a deck box for storage that doubles as a side table. Wood tiles for the floor, an outdoor rug and tons of colourful cushions cosy up the space. Tall plants add privacy while an elevated patio umbrella provides shade without taking up too much room. Reiko also suggests adding backyard elements like a blow-up pool for kids or a mod outdoor fireplace; these additional touches can make your small balcony a great spot for entertaining.

Walmart's New Truck Prototype Has Stunning Design
Some of the oh-so-typical big rigs we see everyday are taking a major turn for the better and the company leading the way in terms of innovation is Walmart. Some of the oh-so-typical big rigs we see everyday are taking a major turn for the better and the company leading the way in terms of innovation is Walmart. A concept truck was recently created with one specific goal in mind and that is to maximize fleet efficiency. The semi will in turn help Walmart become more environmentally sustainable as a corporation. As an added bonus, the appearance of the truck called WAVE is stunning and very modern. The cab can be described as a trendsetter with a convex nose and streamlined design. It combines the visual aspects of both a spaceship and a race car. The lucky driver of the futuristic truck will be seated right in the center of the cab instead of on the left side, which makes it comparable to a cockpit. The sleep compartment is situated right behind the driver's seat. The entire truck, including the trailer, is constructed of lightweight carbon-fiber. That makes the trailer about 4,000 pounds lighter than current standard ones. It allows for better fuel efficiency and the ability to carry additional freight. Walmart describes the WAVE vehicle as a 'one-of-a-kind prototype' that 'offers a whole package of firsts. The tractor has very advanced aerodynamics and is powered by a prototype advanced turbine-powered, range-extending series hybrid powertrain.' How do you like it?
