Aspen Senior Center | Adult Activity Day | Day Care Center For Seniors | Senior Care
VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT: http://www.aspenseniorcenter.org/ OUR MOTTO Our motto at Aspen Senior Center is "You don't quit playing because you get old, You get old because you quit playing." Over the past year our days have been filled with a wide range of activities. BEGIN THE DAY Begin the day with Cognitive games such as Word Searches, Puzzles, Quirkle, Bingo, Dominoes, Memory, Cranium Crunches, Jenga, Checkers, Uno, Zingo, and Scrabble just to name a few. We already know that exercise is good for our bodies but keeping our brains active and challenged every day keeps us fit as well REMINISCING Reminiscing discussions elicit memories of "the good ol' days" and give opportunities for socialization as memories are shared of lives well lived. MUSIC Music is one of our favorite parts of the day. Our Sing-Alongs, Name that Tune and Musical Instruments all bring joy as our seniors sing familiar songs such as "Shine on Harvest Moon", "Toot Toot Tootsie", and "Me and My Gal". ART FROM THE HEART When words fail, our daily art classes have shown us how a work of art can tell a story, express emotion or recreate a memory in a way nothing else does. Creativity, sensory stimulation and socialization also occur during this time. It has become one of the highlights of our clients' day! STAYING FIT For many adults, growing older seems to involve inevitable loss of strength and fitness. The adage "use it or lose it" applies here. At Aspen Senior Center, exercise is a large part of our day. From playing pool, bowling, horseshoes, ring toss, foosball, ball toss, scavenger hunts, "Minute to Win It," Sit and Dance, to playing with noodles, balloons and parachutes, we are always on the move. Physical limitations are forgotten, friendships are formed and fears of growing older are alleviated. COOKING CLASS Baking brings back fond memories in the kitchen of favorite dishes and allows our Seniors an opportunity to participate hands-on. This increases self esteem and helps them feel at home doing many of the things they remember. As the most economical approach to senior care, we help your loved one enjoy each day with fulfilling activities and projects, a delicious catered lunch, and socializing with other seniors in the community. Friends are quickly made and many good times are had at Aspen Senior Center. Our services include: Social Activities Cognitive Games and Discussions Art and Crafts Music Recreation Therapy Catered Lunch and Nutritious Snacks Entertaining Light Exercise Medication Reminders Personal Care Assistance Alzheimer's and Dementia Training Support Groups for Caregivers Community Resource Center We are licensed as an adult day care facility with the Utah State Department. To learn how your Assisted Living facility can become certified for BalloFlex, go to http://balloflex.com/chair-exercises-for-seniors/ Today’s senior communities strive to make fitness fun and dignified in order to encourage residents to view exercise as a pleasure rather than a chore. Activities at senior centers should offer a lot more than bingo and balloon volleyball. BalloFlex is that new and unique senior living activity that directors and residents are raving about. These facilities provide help with activities of daily living. Some help with care most people can do themselves like taking medicine, using eye drops, getting to appointments, or preparing meals. Residents often live in their own room or apartment within a building or group of buildings and have some or all of their meals together. Social and recreational activities are usually provided. Some of these facilities have health services on site. Not all assisted living facilities provide the same services. In most cases, assisted living residents pay a regular monthly rent, and then pay additional fees for the services they get. New SENS Power Plays program to give kids the opportunity to play
OTTAWA – The Ottawa Senators Foundation (@sensfoundation) and Their Opportunity (@their_opp) have announced a new three-year $150,000 partnership to create the SENS Power Plays program. This announcement represents another significant multi-year financial contribution that the Ottawa Senators Foundation has made in the area of social recreation in the region. “We’re very proud to be partnering with Their Opportunity and to invest $50,000 per year in a program that will impact children and youth across the region,” said Danielle Robinson, president and CEO of the Ottawa Senators Foundation. “The new SENS Power Plays program will give deserving kids an opportunity to experience sport and foster important skills such as teamwork and leadership while building self-confidence.” With the objective of providing low-income families with the means to enroll their children in local sports programs, new funding will alleviate the financial costs of enrollment and/or equipment fees, enabling children to develop the confidence, social skills and a healthy lifestyle that is attainable through sport. “The Ottawa Senators Foundation has become an advocate and a game changer for the children in Their Opportunity’s program and throughout the region,” said Randy Gill, president and CEO of Their Opportunity. “The new SENS Power Plays program will provide an opportunity for so many more children in the region to become additionally involved in a community which truly cares for them.” About the Ottawa Senators Foundation The Ottawa Senators Foundation empowers children and youth to reach their full potential by investing in social recreation and education programs that promote both physical and mental wellness. In partnership with the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, alumni association, corporate partners and fans, more than $110 million has been contributed to thousands of initiatives and charities in the National Capital Region. About Their Opportunity Their Opportunity is a grassroots charity that exists to provide low-income families with the means to enroll their children in organized sports and recreation programs. Additionally, within three months of receiving funding, each child is mandated to “pay-it-forward” through their Giveback Program. The program inspires hope while teaching essential life skills of teamwork and compassion; proving that only one change in a child’s life can create an opportunity for inspiration and change, while further impacting the community. Seniors Recreation Programs. Seniors Entertainment. Too Old to Play Sports?
Seniors Recreation Programs. Seniors Entertainment. Am I Too Old to Play Sports? http://www.Getwhatever.com/igr/seniors-recreation-activities_123.html Are you too old to play sports? Has this question ever popped up in your mind after you turned 60 or 70 or even older? Well, the answer is no! In fact, you should work out in your senior years. People usually do not understand the fact that the need for sports is greater in their senior years than in their youth. We do not mean high impact sports, though. Sports that are more gentle and easy on the body should be found for people in their senior years. But it is more important for seniors to be physically active than it is for those who are still at their thirties. http://www.Getwhatever.com/igr/seniors-recreation-activities_123.html
