As well as using extreme lengths to bulk up to a combined weight of 241kg, the brothers from Rio, Brazil, attend the same gym everyday and work out together for hours to improve their definition. Tony, 49, and Alvaro, 50, claim there was a time when they were ‘addicted to getting big’ but now believe they have it under control. Alvaro had been injecting his biceps and legs with a supplement - called Potenay B12 - on and off since he was 15 years old. Tony followed in his older brother’s footsteps. Taking their doctors advice, the brothers claim to have recently stopped injecting for health reasons and because their skin cannot stretch anymore. Almost all of the men in the 3,500 strong town of Asola-Fatehpur Beri workout and 90 per cent are employed as bouncers or security guards in nearby New Delhi. They train from birth but step things up at the age of 14 when they switch to a diet of milk, bananas, eggs and curd - to help put on weight. They can work out up to six hours a day lifting motorbikes, tractors and wrestling to build up their bulging biceps before unwinding with yoga. The village's new muscleman reputation has also made the women happy - as no-one smokes, drinks or take drugs. They earn about £1,500 a year but can make more on private security details where their hand-to-hand combat skills make them a prized assets. For some, it is a primarily social setting which enables you to feel good about yourself, even though the muscles you are mainly working are those in your mouth as you gab with friends or your fingers as you mindlessly text. For others, there’s a more dedicated, health-oriented goal in mind, with the gym serving as a place of focus and drive. Then there are those who are on another level entirely, seemingly determined to develop a comical, outrageous amount of muscle tissue, if they haven’t done so already. More often than not, these people are far from naturally enhanced. Typically, these people are a product of Synthol abuse, a site enhancing oil designed to “fluff” muscles, or mimic their appearance where it may otherwise be disproportionate or lagging. It isn’t that these folks don’t hit the gym to further beef up their jarring physique, but the images that you will see here aren’t simply the product of a few bicep curls and a protein shake. When applied modestly, the completely legal Synthol product has been known to serve as a point of controversy within the world of professional bodybuilding. When used excessively, it can result in the type of grotesque, freakish physicality represented here. It’s remarkable to consider the supposed evolution of the bodybuilder in recent decades. Where bodybuilding champions were once buff muscle-men with impressively sculpted but accessible figures, modern competitors are jacked, genetically engineered freaks of nature with muscles upon muscles and bulging veins. Trolls justify their failure by claiming that men who achieve fitness have some unfair advantage that they themselves do not, such as drugs, superior genetics, more free time, more money, a younger age, lack of injuries, access to trainers and mentors, Hollywood celebrity secrets, and various other tired excuses so well rehearsed by those who have not yet found the will to achieve. In truth these men lack discipline, persistence, proper exercise form, and the willingness to challenge themselves—and then keep raising the bar. If I were a candidate for any of these three pharmaceuticals, I would JUMP at the chance. However back in 2005 when I had been prescribed injectable testosterone replacement under a doctor’s supervision for two years (6 weeks on, 6 weeks off) he told me my red blood cells were increasing to a worrying level. Increased red blood cells means thicker blood which means your heart has to work extra hard to pump it through the veins. Many men will not experience this particular red blood cell anomaly, but I am one of those who has. He told me I could either donate blood every month to mitigate (but not completely nullify) this condition, or I could stop testosterone altogether. With a strong history of heart disease in my family I chose to stop. I am 100% IN FAVOR of steroids/testosterone replacement (TRT; HRT), and/or human growth hormone (HGH) but ONLY UNDER A PHYSICIAN’S PRESCRIPTION AND SUPERVISION. The deliberate misinformation, old wive’s tales and false horror stories related to these pharmaceuticals online and in the mainstream media flies in the face of fact. In truth, if you are a viable candidate, you’d have to be nuts not to take advantage of this pharmaceutical fountain of youth offered by your physician. The benefits are absolutely astonishing, from faster recovery to increased strength and energy, to a super-charged libido, to increased muscle mass to a brighter mood and outlook on life to fewer aches and pains, to feeling more manly—to name just a few. Underachievers who spend all day watching videos of fitness personalities and bodybuilders and then denigrate the very men whose videos they are attracted to are telling the rest of us more about themselves than they think they are. It is human nature for those who feel bested or threatened by others to attribute some “unfair advantage” to explain this discrepancy. Those who are not ready to physically challenge themselves will always have their memorized script of excuses at the ready. For those with low testosterone levels not willing to take a pharmaceutical, know that working out in an increasingly challenging manner naturally increases your testosterone levels. Slow and steady wins the race; whereas fast and reckless will lead to injury. The smarter and harder you work, the more muscle you will put on, and the more lean muscle mass you put on the higher will be your testosterone levels, your metabolism, and your immune system. More muscle means more strength to build even more muscle on top of that. That’s just common sense. Will you become another Arnold Schwarzenegger? Nope. But you’ll look and feel a hell of a lot better than you do now.

A well rounded fitness program will improve a person in all aspects of fitness, rather than one, such as only cardio/respiratory endurance or only weight training. A comprehensive fitness program tailored to an individual typically focuses on one or more specific skills, and on age- or health-related needs such as bone health. Many sources also cite mental, social and emotional health as an important part of overall fitness. This is often presented in textbooks as a triangle made up of three points, which represent physical, emotional, and mental fitness. Physical fitness can also prevent or treat many chronic health conditions brought on by unhealthy lifestyle or aging. If you want to learn bodybuilding from the world's best bodybuilder, you're in the right place. | Basics Are Best | "The biggest mistake being made in bodybuilding today is that people aren't covering basic exercises," says the Austrian Oak. And by basic, Arnold doesn't mean easy. Many contemporary fitness centers are full of people on machines, not in squat racks, and big-box gyms often lack even a single platform. Arnold disapproves: "Today, when I go in the gymnasium, I don't see any of the kids learning about the clean and press, or the snatch, or the upright row from the floor." Schwarzenegger's insistence on the essential lifts is not due to some grandfatherly desire to live in the past. It comes from decades of continued interest and expertise in the industry, and from the hard-earned knowledge that it doesn't take fancy machines or off-the-wall programming to become arguably the best bodybuilder in history. Get back to your bodybuilding roots and experience unbelievable growth. | Arnold Schwarzenegger's Training Tips | Chest: "There are three chest exercises that should always be done," Arnold says. "The bench press, the incline bench press at different angles, and the dumbbell flye." Back: "For back, I did chin-ups, bent-over barbell and dumbbell rows, and the T-bar row. Any kind of rowing movement will give you that thickness. Those are the exercises I relied on from the beginning of my career to the end." Arms: Arnold relied on the barbell curl to build thick biceps, but he also used incline dumbbell curls and concentration curls to isolate his biceps. "For triceps," Arnold says, "we did a lot of narrow [close-grip] bench press in the early days. And then triceps push downs and overhead triceps extensions later." Shoulders: Arnold's shoulders were built by barbell presses, behind-the-neck barbell presses, lateral raises, military presses, and dumbbell presses. "We always did presses behind the neck and a special dumbbell press which would stretch out the front delt at the bottom and fully flex it at the top. Now those are called Arnold presses." Legs "The squat is the most important exercise to create big thighs," says Arnold. "I did back squats, front squats, leg extensions, lunges, single-leg deadlifts, good morning exercises, and a lot of leg curls." Abs: "The regular training we did for abs was just leg raises, knee raises, crunches, and sit-ups.
