15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

11:15
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

Little known village produces world designer handbags

06:42
(10 Apr 2017) LEADIN: Hidden in a remote village in the Southern mountains of Spain, a centuries-old leather manufacturing hub is defying conventional wisdom about how to survive in a global, competitive world. Made in Ubrique is a secret success story - and the unseen label of thousands of designer handbags and leather goods from top brands around the globe. STORYLINE : Locals in Ubrique, a 17,000-strong village in the province of Cádiz, pride themselves on a leather industry dating back to the 18th century. Today a clutch of small manufacturers produce handbags, bearing famous logos, which are carried on the arms of fashionistas around the world. The secret of their success is a commitment to quality above all. Alejandro Oliva is co-owner and manager of handbag manufacturer El Potro. "Since I was a child I have been taught to care a lot about details, any detail, any seam, any well glued part, any well ironed thing, the leather well looked after, all these details that make the product one of high quality." The towns' workshops, around one hundred mostly family-run firms employing an average of 40 workers, have managed to survive the economic crisis that hit Spain in the past decade and cheaper manufacturing costs offered by Chinese competitors. In recent years the luxury brands have been returning to do business in Ubrique. José David Romero is the co-owner and marketing director of Piel Fort, another leather manufacturer in the town. He says that a good quality luxury handbag with a brand logo, is something consumers are prepared to splash out on. "I believe Ubrique has survived better than other similar places of other business for two reasons. First, the specialisation in premium and luxury products, where clients don't care much about price, what they want is a very well-manufactured product. And second, because handbags are considered the great luxury accessory for women's fashion. Fashion has democratised itself and many articles can be bought for very different prices, but the handbag is the great symbol of luxury." Juan Enrique Gutiérrez, is Head of Leather Companies' Association ByPiel and Director of the Professional Training School, which trains up local people to be the next generation of artisans. "Company leaders decided to create a professional training school. It didn't exist in the past. In the past, workers were trained at the workshops, inside the factories," he says. Julián Izquierdo, the director of the clothing sector at ICEX (Spain's public institute in charge of promoting foreign trade) says that at the turn of the century many luxury clients abandoned Ubrique's firms to seek more lucrative deals in China. But he says the trend started reversing around five years ago and the clients came back. "Around 2003 there's an enormous crisis. The crisis particularly affected Ubrique. Ubrique is a place which was specialised in high-end leather manufacturing for the best luxury brands worldwide. When these decided to go produce in China, it provoked a big crisis." The owners of the firms in Ubrique are reluctant to give the names of their clients – they sign non-disclosure agreements with them - but Izquierdo is clear that Ubrique is the "most important" and "prestigious" leather manufacturing cluster in Spain, and second only to Italy's Tosacana in the high-end niche worldwide. Izquierdo says Louis Vutton handbags are made in the town, but Louis Vutton's PR team declined to confirm this. Exports of leather manufactures from the province of Cádiz increased more than threefold from 2009 to 2015, according to ICEX. Urbique workshops offer cheaper labour costs, some of the workers earn Spain's minimum wage of 707 Euros per month, others can earn 1,506 euros per month. Luxury life of rich people in japan | Japan technology | Future of japan | Smart house | JAPAN

02:42
A country of trends, Japan is one of the world’s top markets when it comes to lifestyle and luxury goods. In our special edition of Focus on Japan, we look at the plentiful opportunities for companies, particularly European ones, to invest in the country. The Ginza bling Tokyo’s Ginza district is home to all things luxury. Swarovski is an Austrian family company which has grown into a big brand name, known worldwide for its crystal products. It has been in Japan since the 1970s and now boasts 115 shops. Vincent Nelias, Managing Director of Swarovski Japan, spoke to us from the latest and largest outlet. “They (Japanese) are, in a sense, more classic in the choice. They enjoy more delicate designs. They love of course fashion and trends, but the share of jewellery we sell in Japan is more in the classic collections.” Tourism boosts takings For Swarovski, as indeed for the entire premium and luxury sector, one of the challenges is dealing with a boom in tourism. Chinese visitors, for example, totalled 2.5 million in 2014. That number doubled last year, forming a big part of the evolving turnover. Nelias explained: “We had to adjust the way to serve. We have Chinese speaking staff. We have specific best-sellers or collections. And we have also a way to attend them in terms of speed of service, in terms of presenting the collections. “But, what we must not forget is the Japanese consumers. They represent 90 percent of our business in Japan. So, we make sure that we attend to them with the highest service quality possible.” Grasping the ‘Omotenashi’ Reporting from Japan, euronews’ Serge Rombi said: “In this sector, perhaps more than others, if you want to succeed, you must grasp an important concept. “It’s the Omotenashi, exceptional Japanese hospitality, probably one of the most advanced in the world.” And then companies also have to understand certain customs. For example, if a European firm wants to succeed in the market, it must ensure that the Japanese want its products. And of course the goods must already have proven their worth in the core market. The general mood has also changed since the 2011 earthquake in Japan. “What has changed? Before 2011, we consumed many, many things. But in 2011, we realised what we could lose,” said Ako Enomoto, a trend specialist. “What is most precious to us? We value time with our family and friends.” Osaka: a business launch-pad Osaka is a bustling city with a unique atmosphere. It was in Osaka that in 2012 a Danish giant – specialising in “Nordic Deco” – opened its first store in Asia. “Tokyo was too important a market. There’s no room for error. And Osaka was the perfect testing ground,” said Hirotake Yamamoto, CEO of Flying Tiger Japan. “Our products are quite fun, and that fun side, people in Osaka complement very well.” And that test was so successful that the company now has 24 stores in four cities, including Tokyo. There is also a plan to double the number of shops in the coming years. The company has had support from JETRO, the Japan External Trade Organisation. Yamamoto explained: “In this market, we learned two things. First the Japanese market is a mature market and therefore the demand for quality is very important. “Then we had to create specific products and adapt to the needs of the Japanese market. “ When it comes to luxury and lifestyle, the Japanese market is seen as a safe bet and a long-term investment. And the European origin of products in these sectors remains a real asset.

The personal luxury goods market delivered positive growth in 2018, a trend that is expected to continue through 2025. The most important characteristic that consumers seek in luxury brands today include high perceived prestige and an affluent lifestyle. Luxury sector Including Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Chanel are growing faster than others as they provide a sense of exclusiveness that comes from a unique and personalised service with products that exceed customer expectations. That is not to say that consumers are indifferent to price. Many are making emotional adjustments, finding ways to balance a love of fashion with the reality of its increasingly exorbitant cost. Some are buying vintage at a reduced cost which I will cover in upcoming videos. The CEO Of Luxury Fashion Site Farfetch, Next Step IPO

00:41
Business Insider has reported that Europe's next major tech IPO is on the horizon. José Neves, chief executive of luxury fashion website Farfetch, told The Telegraph that a float would be "the next logical stage" for his company. A Sky News report in June suggested Farfetch was close to picking bankers to underwrite a $5 billion Initial Public Offering in New York. Neves believes that a Farfetch IPO might reignite the British tech IPO market, which has stalled since the UK voted to leave the European Union. http://www.businessinsider.com/farfetch-ceo-jose-neves-ipo-logical-2017-8 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

China needs own luxury brands

02:35
The luxury brand Chanel has announced price cuts for selected products in China, while raising them in Europe. The move was made to reduce price gaps between countries, counter the decline of the euro and discourage customers from buying fakes. The news immediately triggered a frenzy of shopping in Chanel stores in major metropolises of China. While fashion lovers are crazy for bargains, experts say China need to build its own luxury brands to win back customers.

15:50
Part II Counterfeit Culture Moscow https://youtu.be/MwJTT1D2PbE In recent years, Korea has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing fashion markets. Koreans are obsessed with fashion, and the country produces scores of talented designers, many of whom are now breaking out onto the global stage. Beneath the surface, though, there’s an insane market for counterfeit streetwear. Of course, you can find fake clothing all over the globe, but there’s places in Seoul that are selling convincing knock-offs of hyped brands like Raf Simons, Off-White, Balenciaga and Fear Of God. China's Luxury Market: Trends & Implications

08:45
What are the trends in China's booming luxury market, and what do they mean for the years ahead? Mr. Bruno Lannes, Partner at Bain & Company, had the answers when he spoke during CEIBS 4th Prestige Brands Forum on March 3, 2012.
Counterfeit Culture Moscow: Inside the Russian Fashion Black Market

16:55
For the second installment of Counterfeit Culture, Highsnobiety’s first-ever documentary series, we headed to Moscow to find what’s driving Russia’s thriving market for fake streetwear. Russia’s counterfeit industry stretches back decades, to when Communism isolated the country from Western products. Now, almost 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia’s borders are open, but a fragile economy, international sanctions and low wages has kept the country’s demand for fakes alive and well. Brides for sale - Bulgaria's Roma marriage market | DW Documentary

26:11
The Kalaidzhi bride market takes place in the southeast of Bulgaria every year. Unmarried women are often paired off with financially strong men. But more and more young Roma are rebelling against the old tradition. For young Kalaidzhi the annual bride market at Bachkovo Monastery is the only chance to find a partner. Their Orthodox Christian faith and traditional code of conduct prohibit them from dating, flirting or having any other pre-marital relations. The Kalaidzhi - a name meaning tinsmiths or boilermakers - marry only within the group. Finding a spouse from outside - and in particular a non-Roma Bulgarian - is out of the question. Love is only a secondary consideration. What matters is the dowry. A growing number of young Roma, however, are rebelling against the traditional marriage market. They want to make their own decisions, and to love and marry the person of their choice. For girls especially - some as young as 15 when they are put up for marriage - the wedding is the end of self-determined life. They will subsequently be housewives and mothers. The film accompanies 17-year-old Teni and 19-year-old Maria in the week before the market day. For them it means buying a lot of new clothes and masses of other preparations. Can this be a way to find true love? And how is the outdated ritual affected by the Internet and social media? _______ Exciting, powerful and informative – DW Documentary is always close to current affairs and international events. 07:21
https://www.facebook.com/2minutesfun Cash-rich Chinese buyers have been busily snapping up Western brands for quite some time now, and 2016 has seen a record $200 billion (£161bilion) worth of deals. Chinese businesses benefit from the recognition and prestige these iconic brands enjoy, not to mention the technology and distribution channels developed by their parent companies. Here are 20 well-known Western brands you might not have known are now majority- or wholly-owned by the Chinese. Volvo. Renowned for its super-safe, perennially reliable cars, the vehicles arm of the much-loved Swedish automotive company was sold by Ford to China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group for $1.3 billion (£1b) in 2010. London Taxis. The Zhejiang Geely Holding Group followed up its purchase of Volvo in 2013 by buying The London Taxi Company (formerly Manganese Bronze), the firm that produces the most popular model of London's iconic black cab. Gieves & Hawkes. The venerable tailor from London's famous Savile Row was established way back in 1771 and former clients have included Horatio Nelson and Charlie Chaplin. Gieves Hawkes was sold in 2012 for $115 million (£92.5m) to Hong Kong's Trinity, which has embarked on an ambitious expansion program in the UK and China. Cerruti. Trinity also owns prestigious Italian fashion brand Cerruti. Famed for its luxurious men's suits and classic 1881 fragrance, the brand was bought by the Hong Kong-based company for $70 million (£56.3m) in 2010. Weetabix. The UK's second biggest cereal manufacturer, which also makes breakfast cereal classics Ready Brek and Alpen, was taken over by Shanghai-based company Bright Foods in 2012. The Chinese firm paid $1.5 billion (£1.2bn) for a 60% controlling stake. Smithfield. Smithfield Foods, America's premier pork producer, includes brands like Smithfield and Cook's in its portfolio. China's Shuanghui Group, the world's leading pork producer, bought the company for $4.7 billion (£3.8bn) in 2013. Club Med. Last year, Chinese investment company Fosun International forked out $1.07 billion (£861m) to acquire the quintessentially French all-inclusive vacation brand, which it hopes to launch in the Chinese market. Hoover US. The US division of the vacuum cleaner company was sold by Whirlpool to Hong Kong-based investment company Techtronic Industries in 2007 for $108 million (£86.8m). Grindr. The world's biggest gay dating app is now majority-owned by Chinese online gaming company Beijing Kunlun Tech. The firm, which helped launch Rovio's Angry Birds game in China, paid $93 million (£75m) earlier this year for a 60% stake. Motorola. America's Motorola is controlled by Chinese home computing giant Lenovo, which acquired Motorola Mobility in 2014. The company currently produces a range of Android-powered smartphones. Inter Milan FC. The first Italian Serie A soccer club to fall under majority Chinese ownership, Inter Milan was taken over by Nanjing's Suning Holdings Group earlier this year. The Chinese company paid $289 million (£232m) for a 69% stake in the world-renowned club. AC Milan FC. Inter's arch rival AC Milan has also fallen into Chinese ownership. In August, tycoon and former Italian President Silvio Berlusconi sold AC Milan in its entirety to a consortium of Chinese investors for $792 million (£637m), ending his 30-year tenure of the soccer club. Hamleys. London's Hamleys is one of the most famous toy store brands in the world and a major tourist attraction. Now wholly Chinese-owned, the Regent Street institution was bought by Nanjing-based footwear company C.banner for $124 million (£100m) in October last year. MG. The quality British automotive brand was rescued from oblivion by Shanghai-based SAIC Motor in 2005 following the collapse of its parent company MG Rover. SAIC Motor has recently ceased production at MG's Longbridge plant and moved all operations to China. Waldorf Astoria. Synonymous with Big Apple glitz and glamour, the landmark Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City was acquired by Chinese Insurance giant Angbang Insurance Group in 2014 for $1.95 billion (£1.57bn). The group is planning to convert some of the hotel's rooms into luxury condos. Pirelli. Last year, the state-owned China National Chemical Corporation parted with a massive $7.6 billion (£6.1bn) to buy the eminent Italian firm, famed for its tires and 'arty' calendars. The multi-billion dollar deal is the biggest Chinese acquisition of an Italian company to date. and so on, the list is very big. I started posting outfit of the day (OOTD) photos on Instagram about two years ago when I was living in Dallas, Texas for work. I loved taking photos and posting on Instagram so much that I decided to expand and try out YouTube and blogging as well. When I was living in the city, my personal style was a bit more streetwear 90's grunge, but now that I live in Southern California and closer to the ocean, my style has become a lot more cozy and comfortable with a lot of bohemian influences. If I had to describe my fashion sense on my blog, Instagram aesthetic, and YouTube editing style now, I'd probably describe it as modern bohemian with an edge, since I tend to wear and do things that might be considered unconventional to others. I'm not sure if that is true, but since I've moved back to California, I just find that I gravitate to what is easiest and effortless for me while living near the beach where it always feels like summer. Thank you so much for stopping by my YouTube channel and I hope that you enjoy what you'll find here! I love fashion, beauty (especially hair styling and bohemian braids), DIY projects and how to videos, making travel diaries of all the places that I'm lucky enough to visit, and sharing my (for lack of a better term) "modern bohemian" lifestyle. Global Luxury Goods Sales Growth To Stabilize In 2015: Bain

00:50
Consultancy Bain & Co said in a report published on Tuesday, Growth in the global luxury goods market will be steady next year at 2014 levels, or around 5 percent at constant exchange rates, with the whole of America and Japan the biggest drivers. The personal luxury goods industry has been through a slowdown since 2011 in part due to flagging demand in China where the government has cracked down on gift-giving, and economic weakness in Europe. Industry concerns have been compounded by conflicts in the Middle East, the Ukraine crisis hitting demand in Russia - the No.2 luxury goods buyer after the China - and pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, where many luxury brands made more than 10 percent of their annual sales. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/businessNews/~3/Qb_ujN4UDPc/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com
