HPV and Men

03:44
HPV, or human papillomavirus, is a very common virus. Most sexually active people—about 70 percent—will have an HPV infection at some point in their lives. Most commonly known is the link between HPV and cervical cancer in women. However, men are also at risk for developing HPV-related cancers. So even though HPV-related cancer is rare overall, it's important for men to understand their risk for HPV and learn how to protect themselves.

HPV in Men: Know the HPV Symptoms, HPV Causes, HPV Prevention, HPV Treatment. Understanding HPV Virus in Men: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most widespread sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), almost everyone who is sexually active but unvaccinated for HPV will have it at some point in their lives. ☛ Subscribe Our Channel For More Health and Lifestyle Videos! ☛ https://www.youtube.com/Top10Lifestyle Almost 80 million Americans are infected with the hpv virus. About 14 million new hpv cases are added each year. For many, the infection will go away on its own. In rare cases, HPV is a potentially serious risk factor for certain kinds of cancer. What are the symptoms of HPV in men? There are more than 100 types of HPV. Approximately 40 types are sexually transmitted. Each HPV type is numbered and categorized as either a high-risk or low-risk HPV. Low-risk HPVs can cause warts. They generally produce little to no other symptoms. They tend to resolve on their own without any long-term effects. High-risk HPVs are more aggressive forms of the virus that may require medical treatment. Sometimes, they can also cause cell changes that may lead to cancer. Most men with HPV never experience symptoms or realize that they have the infection. If you have an infection that won’t go away, you may begin to notice genital warts on your: - penis. - scrotum. - anus. Warts may also occur on the back of your throat. If you notice any abnormal skin changes in these areas, see a doctor immediately for further evaluation. What causes HPV in men? Both men and women can contract HPV from having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with an infected partner. Most people infected with HPV unknowingly pass it on to their partner because they’re unaware of their own HPV status. Risk factors for HPV in men: Although HPV is common in both men and women, health problems resulting from HPV are less common in men. Three male subpopulations are at an increased risk for developing HPV-related health problems. These include: - uncircumcised men. - men with weak immune systems due to HIV or organ transplant. - men who engage in anal sex or sexual activity with other men. It’s important to understand the relationship between HPV and cancer in both men and women. Data from 2010 to 2014 indicates that there are approximately 41,000 HPV-related cancers in the United States each year. Of these, almost 24,000 occurred in women and about 17,000 occurred in men. The primary cancers caused by HPV are: - cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancer in women. - penile cancer in men. - throat and anal cancer in men and women. Cervical cancer is the most common HPV-related cancer in women. Throat cancer is the most common HPV-related cancer in men. How is HPV in men diagnosed? Due to the high correlation between cervical cancer and HPV, much effort has gone into creating tools to diagnose HPV in women. Currently, there are no approved tests to detect HPV in men. Some people may carry and possibly spread the virus for years without ever knowing. If you do notice any HPV-related symptoms, it’s important to report them to your doctor. You should see your doctor immediately if you notice any abnormal skin growths or changes in your penile, scrotal, anal, or throat areas. These may be early signs of cancerous growths. Treating HPV in men: There’s currently no special cure for HPV in men. However, most health problems that are caused by HPV are treatable. If you develop genital warts, your doctor will use a variety of topical and oral medications to treat the condition. HPV-related cancers are also treatable, especially when diagnosed at an early stage. A doctor who specializes in cancer treatment can assess the cancer and provide an appropriate hpv treatment plan. Early intervention is key, so you should see a doctor immediately if you’re experiencing any unusual symptoms. How to reduce your HPV risk? The top way you can help protect yourself against #HPV is to get vaccinated. Although it’s recommended that you get vaccinated around age 12, you can get vaccinated up until age 26. ► We hope you find this hpv in men video very informative, If you like it then please share it with your friends on social media. HPV Testing for Men as explained by the Phantom of the Opera | Is there HPV testing for men?

03:49
Recently exposed to HPV and now you're desperate to get tested? Before you start seeking out HPV testing for men (certainly to be met with disappointment and despair), listen to the wise words of the Phantom of the Opera, who himself had an HPV scare a mere 6 years ago.... and lived to tell the story, and haunt more operas ***The Phantom's Quick HPV Fun Facts*** *There's no test for HPV in men because on any given day the virus could be dormant giving a false negative, and the only real concern for HPV is a potential for warts, cancer, tumors, etc which are only treatable after their discovery *Most people will encounter HPV in their lifetime (about 70%) *Your girlfriend having HPV doesn't make her a whore, but surely many whores do carry HPV (just ask Phantom) *HPV can lead to certain kinds of cancers in very rare cases. If you've been exposed, keep an eye out for anything unusual, but don't become a hypochondriac *Gay men have 17 times the risk for developing cancer in the ass region, so HPV could be more problematic due to their style of you know what *The only way to prevent HPV transmission is to stop having sex, and we both know you're not going to do that, so basically, we're all fucked *It's not that bad, and we're probably not going to die or ever have a problem from HPV, so guys don't kill yourselves or beat up that skank who dropped this bomb on you *A strong immune system will most likely take care of HPV if you've been exposed to it, preventing any major symptoms from ever being seen. COULD YOU HAVE IT RIGHT NOW AND NOT KNOW IT??? maybe... life goes on and you'll probably be completely fine *Getting the HPV vaccine is recommended by the CDC for young males and females, but the Phantom is highly weary of vaccinations because of their questionable efficacy and lack of proof that they are safe... plus the Phantom has great faith in the body's immune system to ward off threats when maintained with proper diet and exercise *Please go and enjoy your life now, but use a condom to increase the probability of not spreading this damn phantom menace brought to you by the Phantom over at http://patRIOTofficial.com

What are common HPV symptoms?

02:00
What are common HPV symptoms? Unfortunately, there aren't really any. Gynecologists can detect HPV during a woman's pap test or HPV test, but it can be much harder for doctors treating other HPV-related cancers, such as throat cancer, to detect HPV before it causes cancer. However, there are common throat cancer symptoms that men and women should be on the lookout for. Watch Erich Sturgis, M.D., professor of Head and Neck Surgery at MD Anderson, discuss common throat cancer symptoms. Genital Warts HPV Introduction and Causes STD

02:10
Condylomata acuminata are anogenital warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is one of the most commonly transmitted STDs in the world. In 90% of women who have cervical HPV infection, the infection becomes undetectable within two years. A few women have persistent infection, which is a key risk factor for cervical cancer. Regular Pap smears and HPV screening can monitor this risk and provide an early warning that treatment is needed. HPV can be transmitted by vaginal, oral and anal sex. Many individuals who have HPV are not aware of the infection and can spread it to their sexual partners. HPV types 6 and 11 typically cause venereal warts, and along with types 42, 43, and 44 have a low risk of progressing to cancer. HPV types 16, 18, 31, 33, and 36 have a higher risk of progressing to cancer. These and other types commonly infect the cervix where they can cause either harmless changes or dysplasia which is a precancerous change. High-risk HPV infections of the cervix that last for years can result in cervical cancer. HPV infection of the cervix is found by Pap smear or cervical HPV DNA testing. A Pap test showing dysplasia or intraepithelial neoplasia or cervical cancer almost always is a result of HPV infection.
HPV Causing Cancer In Men

01:42
Cervical cancer may be the most common cancer linked to HPV, but it is not the only one. As it turns out, men are at higher risk to get another form of cancer from the same virus. The human papillomavirus - it's most closely linked to women and cervical cancer. "HPV, there are 140 different types; some are low-risk, some are high-risk. The high-risk types are known to cause almost all cervical cancers," says Dr. Kevin Fleishman, a gynecologist on Lee Memorial Health System's medical staff. Studies show that half of all American men are infected with HPV and it puts them at greater risk of cancer too. "Absolutely, more and more cancers have been shown to be associated with the HPV virus," says Dr. Fleishman. Among them are head and neck cancers. "Many of these cancers are caused by HPV. Prior to 15, 18 years ago, probably 90 to 95 percent of my new cancer patients were smokers. But now about 45 percent are non-smokers and the majority of those are caused by HPV," says Dr. Phillip Andrews, an otolaryngologist on the medical staff of Lee Memorial Health System. Two-thirds of cancers of the tongue and tonsils are caused by HPV and 80 percent of those cases are found in men. If caught early, the prognosis is good. "Some of the smaller cancers in the base of the tongue and tonsils we'll treat with radiation alone, particularly if it's HPV related," says Dr. Andrews. The HPV vaccine was originally promoted as a 'girls' vaccine. Since then, the CDC recommended it for boys as well. And not just to stop the spread of cervical cancer but to keep them safe, too. "If we prevent the transmission of the virus, then we can prevent the cancer," says Dr. Fleishman. If you have questions about HPV or the vaccine, consult your doctor. What Is HPV - How To Recognize HPV In Men & Women (Symptoms) - Human Papillomavirus Infection

02:59
How To Recognize HPV In Men & Women: In this video, we share such a useful information about what is HPV - how to recognize HPV in men & women Symptoms - human papillomavirus infection. Subscribe to our channel for more videos. Watch: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz5EHVVLV7w) What is HPV? HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). HPV is a different virus than HIV and HSV (herpes). HPV is so common that nearly all sexually active people get it at some point in their lives. There are many different types of HPV. Some types can cause health problems including genital warts and cancers. But there are vaccines that can stop these health problems from happening. How Do I Know If I Have HPV? HPV Symptoms If you have HPV, you might never know it. It’s so common that the CDC estimates that almost 80 million people in the United States have it. Depending on the type of HPV you get, you may or may not have symptoms. Many people don’t. Some HPV types can cause genital warts. Others are linked to cancer of the cervix and other organs. And some HPV types cause common warts that you can find in other areas of the body like your hands or feet. If you have genital warts, that’s a sign of HPV. These growths don’t all look the same. They can be raised, flat, pink, or flesh-colored. They might even be shaped like cauliflower. You could have a single wart or several. They can be small or large. They may grow on the anus, cervix, scrotum, groin, thigh, or penis. Genital warts can show up weeks, months, or even years after you have sex (vaginal, anal, or oral) with a person who’s infected with an HPV virus. He (or she) might not know he’s infected. Some types of genital HPV infection are linked to cancer, including cervical cancer and cancer of the vulva, anus, oropharynx (the middle part of the throat, behind the mouth), or penis. If you get infected with one of these virus types, it’s possible that you could have precancerous changes in cells in the tissue without any symptoms. Can I Be Tested? If you’re healthy, doctors don’t routinely test for HPV. For women, the Pap test doesn’t check for HPV. It looks for changes in cells in your cervix. If you have certain changes in those cells, your doctor may ask the lab to check for the virus. If you’re over age 30 and your pap is normal, your doctor may still test you for HPV. This is called “co-testing.” If you have HPV and abnormal cervical cells, your doctor might order more tests right away. If you have HPV but your Pap results are normal, you may also need to get checked again in a year. There’s no HPV test for men. How Do You Get HPV Virus Infection

08:52
Discover how do you get HPV virus infection, and where does Human Papillomavirus come from? ⭐️ FDA-approved Test Kit for HPV Testing AT HOME: http://bit.ly/2JqWYBl This video shows 7 ways (hint 😱😱: #5 is SHOCKING) that the highly contagious HPV can get transmitted and spread, including the related medical research results and HPV statistics. Most people know HPV is the most common sexual transmission disease, however research findings show potential HPV transmission routes are far more. For examples, do you know: - How long can HPV live outside the body? - Can HPV spread via fomites? - Can you get HPV without being sexually active? - Any HPV cross contamination risk? - Is HPV hereditary? There are over 100 human papillomavirus infection. Different HPV virus types are recognized by unique numbers. For examples: High risk HPV 16 and 18 are the most notable since they have been appeared to altogether expand the danger of cervical cancer in female who have persistent infections with these two HPV strains. HPV 16 can also cause other health threats such as oral / throat / penile / anal cancers. Low risk HPV 6 and 11 cause 90% of genital warts in men and women, while other low risk HPV strains may result in plantar / common / flat / filiform / oral / mosaic / periungual warts. More Men Facing HPV Throat Cancer

01:37
HPV, the fueling force behind cervical cancer, is leaving its mark on men. It is now the top cause of throat cancers. White men in their 50s are five times more likely to have an HPV oral cancer compared to the same population of women. “We weren’t testing for HPV that long ago and we didn’t really understand that they were HPV-mediated tumors, they were just non-smokers who had throat cancer,” says Dr. Phillip Andrews, who is an otolaryngologist on medical staff of Lee Memorial Health System. For reasons unknown, HPV-linked cancers respond better to treatment and are less lethal than other throat cancers. Including ones linked to smoking. “Probably 70% of patients who go through combined therapy - which is radiation and chemotherapy - and this takes about seven weeks,” says Dr. Andrews. “Most of those people in six months to a year at their routine follow-up they will tell me ‘I never felt better in my life.’” Early diagnosis and treatment always makes for a better outcome. While there is no definitive screener for these cancers, experts are finding the most common first sign of HPV-linked throat cancer is a lump in the neck. “Kids - it’s common when they get a sore throat, they get a lump in their neck. But with adults they’re not supposed to have lumps. And if they have a lump that doesn’t go away then they need to have it checked out,” says Dr. Andrews. A word to the wise - speak up if you have any suspicion of cancer. What is the difference between PAP & HPV testing?

02:30
What is the difference between PAP & HPV testing? Pap test A Pap test, or Papanicolaou test, is a procedure that removes a small sample of cells from the cervix. Cells are looked at under a microscope to see if they are normal or abnormal. Why a Pap test is done A Pap test is mainly used to: screen for and help diagnose precancerous conditions of the cervix and cervical cancer help diagnose precancerous conditions of the vagina and vaginal cancer diagnose infection and inflammation in the lower female reproductive tract Pap tests are also done to follow up after an abnormal Pap test or to monitor precancerous conditions. They are used to check for abnormal cell changes or to see if cancer comes back (recurs) after treatment. How to prepare for a Pap test Try to avoid having a Pap test during menstruation, or when you have your period. For best results, the test should be done in the middle of your cycle, 10–20 days after the first day of your menstrual period. Talk to your doctor or nurse if your appointment falls during your period. If your period is light, it may be possible to do the Pap test. Avoid having sexual intercourse for 24 hours before the test. Do not use a vaginal douche, vaginal medicines, tampons or contraceptive (spermicidal) creams, foams or gels (except as directed by your doctor) for 48 hours before the test. These products can wash away or hide abnormal cells. Avoid having the test during treatment for any cervical or vaginal infection. Wait 2 weeks after treatment has ended. Try to empty your bladder right before the Pap test. A full bladder may make having the test uncomfortable. How To Test Yourself For HPV Genital Warts

03:35
http://www.GenitalWartsFormula.com/ There are 3 main ways I've learned how to test for HPV genital warts: 1. A visual exam or tissue sample at a dermatologist or doctor who specializes in STD's. (I would not go to a general purpose doctor - their opinions can vary widely and you are more likely to get misdiagnosed.) 2. Compare photos online at http://www.GenitalWartsFormula.com to make sure you don't have fordyce spots, penile papules, molluscum contagiosum, or any of the other skin conditions commonly mistaken for warts. 3. The acetic acid test as described in this video. It's not foolproof, but it can be a huge help in certain cases of warts, especially when you need a cheap, quick test that you can do in the privacy of your home. ---- My report is 12 pages and has everything I've learned about getting rid of the warts and keeping them gone (based on what I did back when I was treating myself, plus more things I've learned in the years since then.) There are 2 main parts; the first part is about getting rid of the warts you can see, and the second part is about some anti-viral techniques you can do to help the immune system deal with the virus with the goal of making it go dormant (for some people this happens naturally and some people need help; since I like to err on the side of caution, its best to follow the full instructions just in case.) There are 2 main methods for getting rid of the warts, which I call method 1 and 2. The only difference between them is that method 2 is a more powerful version. Statistically, method 2 is the most successful. You can get it here, along with support and a video explaining the whole treatment process to make it as easy as possible: http://www.GenitalWartsFormula.com/

The changing epidemiology of HPV and cervical cancer: from etiology, to validation of prevention methods, to dissemination Air date: Wednesday, May 3, 2017, 3:00:00 PM Category: WALS - Wednesday Afternoon Lectures Runtime: 00:53:13 Description: NIH Director's Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series Over three decades of studies moving from etiology to preventive methods research to guidelines development, Dr. Schiffman has learned some broad lessons about the strengths and weaknesses of epidemiology that he will describe. He joined the Clinical Genetics Branch in October 2009 to study intensively why HPV is such a powerful carcinogenic exposure, akin to an acquired genetic trait with high penetrance for a cancer phenotype. The main studies in which Dr. Schiffman played a major role in the past 5 years, listed chronologically, include: The Portland Kaiser Cohort; the Taiwan Cohort Study; the Guanacaste Natural History Study; the ASCUS-LSIL Triage Study (ALTS); the Study to Understand Cervical Cancer Early Endpoints and Determinants (SUCCEED/Biopsy); the Costa Rica Vaccine Trial (CVT); the Persistence and Progression (PaP) Study; and Nigeria Project Itoju. These studies overall have related HPV status to outcome for more than 100,000 women.
