Top 10 Most Famous Fashion Designers Of All Time

02:12
10. Yves Saint Laurent: Yves Saint Laurent became popular in fashion circles due to his creativity in redesigning the clothes considered to be masculine into beautiful, feminine wardrobe for women. Perhaps, one of the most famous fashion designers in France, Yves was the first one to introduce power dressing for women in the form of “power suits” in the year 1966. He is also credited with designing the men’s smoking jacket. 9. Pierre Cardin: The Italian-born Frenchman is lauded for his 20th century pieces that looked as though they were from the 25th century. As Cardin rose to fame in the age of the space race, his creations took on an air of futurism. His so-called bubble dresses had all the fixings of science fiction, combining earthly elegance with out-of-this-world colors and avant garde design. 8. Tom Ford: Tom Ford, counted among the most famous designers today, whose portfolio includes serving as a creative director for both Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci, wanted to be actor when he was growing up. He was born in Texas and even took training to be an actor. But fate had other “designs” for him. Tom ford popularity as a designer reached peaks when in the year 2000, he was declared the winner of the Best International Designer Award. 7. Christian Dior: Born in January of 1905, this French designer was best known for his distinctive “New Look” silhouette. First shown in 1947; his suits and dresses revolutionized the way women dressed after the Second World War. Today, talented designer John Galliano carries on the legendary designer’s legacy in Paris, where he creates dramatic couture ball gowns, chic prêt-a-porter, and luxurious accessories for Dior. 6. Ralph Lauren: Ralph Lauren is worth $7.5 billion, and he got it all because of his fashion sense. In 1970, the first Polo logo was seen in Lauren’s line of women’s suits that was designed in the classic men’s style. Two years later, the famous short sleeve shirt with the Polo emblem appeared, and it soon became a classic. Lauren has been collecting rare and classic cars. The collection is so unique that it has been featured in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. 5. Donatella Versace: She is the sister of Gianni Versace. After the murder of Gianni in 1997, Donatella took over and has taken the Versace name to new heights. Top celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Madonna have endorsed the company’s collection of clothes, accessories, fragrances and home furnishings. 4. Calvin Klein: Born in 1942 in New York, Klein also capitalized on his own charisma and lean good looks. His biggest business rival, Ralph Lauren, was believed to envy Klein’s ability to charm so effortlessly. 3. Giorgio Armani: outstanding Italian fashion designer, particularly noted for his menswear for his clean, tailored lines. He formed his company, Armani, in 1975, and by 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful designer to come out of Italy, with an annual turnover of $1.6 billion and a personal fortune of $7 billion as of 2012. Armani is also the first ever designer to ban models who has a Body Mass Index under 18. 2. Donna Karan: Donna Karan came from a background that was related to fashion in certain ways. This fashion designer worked as a head of a design team for a few number of years and launched some designs that included the very well-known ‘Seven Easy Pieces’. She is the sole creator of the DKNY label (Donna Karen New York). Since then, this label has seen many new additions in the fashion segment. 1. Coco Chanel: Born Gabrielle“Coco” Bonheur Chanel, she is a excellent French fashion designer, founder of the well known Chanel brand, whose modernist thought, practical design, and pursuit of expensive simplicity made her an important and influential figure in 20th-century fashion. She was the only fashion designer to be named on Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century. IMAGE SOURCE: "GOOGLE SEARCH" SOURCE: http://www.themost10.com/famous-fashion-designers-all-time/

15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

11:15
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

To see this classic doc visit https://www.createspace.com/205720. Pauline Trigere was one of America (and France's) greatest fashion designers. I made this in 1968. Pauline was one of the designers who did all of her designs herself. On “live” models which apparently was and is quite rare. In this film, Pauline is preparing for her spring show. French Fashion Designer Preps for Big Show

French fashion designer Franck Sorbier is getting ready for a haute couture show coming up this week. The sagging global economy is re-tailoring the event this year. Designers in Paris are putting their final touches on dresses ahead of the haute couture shows which begin on Monday. French designer and self-proclaimed fashion industry trouble-maker Franck Sorbier, is celebrating his 10th year on the haute couture circuit. Sorbier's latest collection which will be presented on Wednesday. The shows will coincide with a credit crunch that brought lean times to some luxury industries. [Franck Sorbier, Haute Couture Designer]: "In a period like this we are not going to go out and buy very extravagant things. For example, this season we have used a lot of recycled material." As sales of luxury goods decline in the global economic slowdown, many wonder if privately owned fashion houses, like Christian Lacroix will be able to survive. [Franck Sorbier, Haute Couture Designer]: "Haute couture was also an elegance but set in its ways, and he (Christian Lacroix) came in with his off-beat mixes etc, and so I find that that is one tragedy, because I feel that it is a tough thing to say about someone who went out on a limb and in this situation, and another serious thing is that on some level it means that there is no place for couture artists." Two of the women in his workshop intricately braid the ribbons for a dress that has so far absorbed more than 500 hours of work. Sorbier says he doesn't want the handiwork to become a lost art but he can see the industry has changed. [Franck Sorbier, Haute Couture Designer]: "I think that in Italy and in Spain, women still wear haute couture. I think that today in France there is this uneasiness about money, in other words, maybe women want to be more comfortable." Despite the economic situation, there will still be 21 shows this season, the same number as last season. And there seems to be just as much excitement this year over the 3-day shows.
