September 20, 2013 - Business News - Financial News - Stock News --NYSE -- Market News 2013-2014 CLICK HERE➡ ➡ http://FinancialBuzz.com Business News - Financial News - Stock News -- New York Stock Exchange -- Market News 2013-2014 Business News - Financial News - Stock Exchange -- Wall Street -- Market News - New York Stock Exchange 2013-2014 The Consumer Price Index showed tame inflation numbers, with a month-to- month increase of only .1% as energy costs declined. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) increased its dividend by 22% to $.28/share and set a new $40 billion stock buyback. Currently, 83% of stocks in the S&P 500 are paying dividends, the highest level in the past 15 years. The big news this week was the Federal Reserve meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday. Much to the surprise and shock of Wall Street, the Fed decided to keep their bond buying program entirely intact at $85 billion a month. In a press conference, Fed Chairman Bernanke said that even though the labor market has improved, it’s still not satisfactory. The unemployment numbers have fallen, however, large numbers of people have given up on the job market entirely and they are not reflected in official unemployment statistics. In addition with a possible government shutdown looming due to debt limit issues, Bernanke would like to see fiscal policy straightened out before it causes more damage to the economy. After the announcement, a strong rally ensued with the S&P and Dow reaching record highs. In addition, bond yields went down, and gold went up. Existing home sales gained 1.7% month to month to an annual rate of 5.48 million units in August, reaching a 6.5 year high. However, the National Association of Realtors, which released the home sales report said the party may be over as buyers are simply rushing to beat the rise in mortgage rates. New unemployment claims came in at 309,000, significantly below expectations, however, due to last week’s computer glitches at two states, these numbers are still not reliable. Now let’s take a look at some individual stocks. Atossa Genetics, Inc (NASDAQ: ATOS). Wall Street questions Oracle's strategy after weak Q3 sales By Noel Randewich SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Oracle's severe miss in quarterly sales, dismissed by management as a blip, amplified questions on Wall Street about the business-software giant's diminishing clout in an industry moving rapidly toward cheaper Internet-based rivals. Senior management assured Wall Street on Wednesday that a worrying 2-percent slip in new software sales was mostly due to a sales force that lacked "urgency", something to be addressed this quarter. Many analysts agreed, describing the decline in software and hardware revenues as a speed bump. ... http://news.yahoo.com/wall-street-questions-oracles-strategy-weak-q3-sales-213848960--sector.html Oracle's Larry Ellison Loses More Than $3 Billion In A Day Oracle announced disappointing results on Wednesday just after the markets closed. The software giant announced that its fiscal 2013 Q3 sales were down 1% to $9 billion and new software licenses and cloud software subscriptions revenues were off 2% to $2.3 billion. While the strengthening of the US dollar played a role, the bigger problem seemed to be largely one of execution. The company, which has added 400,000 people to the Oracle sales force in the last 18 months, said new sales reps had run out of time. http://www.forbes.com/sites/luisakroll/2013/03/21/oracles-larry-ellison-loses-more-than-3-billion-in-a-day/ Weak Oracle sales, Cyprus fears weigh on US shares Stocks fell on Wall Street Thursday as Oracle's weak sales results weighed down big U.S. technology companies. Morgan Stanley analysts said that a strengthening dollar creates headwinds for Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) fundamentals, but that conservative expectations for both their core business and the potential accretion from the Sun Microsystem deal should make these impacts manageable. Analysts Adam Holt, Keith Weiss, and Kelvin K. Wu said, "The USD appreciation since Oracle's 2Q10 earnings call represents an ~$50-$60 mn impact to 3Q10 revenues (1% of our $6,468 mn forecast) and less than a penny to EPS, by our estimates. While a slight headline risk, investors have increasingly focused on organic constant currency (cc) growth at Oracle - and our -3% organic cc license growth estimate is likely conservative. At 11.7X our CY11 EPS, ORCL trades at a ~35% discount to their large cap peers and does not price in the mid-teen EPS growth they can achieve." Morgan Stanley maintains an "overweight" rating on the stock, with a $31 price target.
