Graphic Design Module 4 Fundamentals of Composition To get certificate subscribe at: https://www.coursera.org/specializations/graphic-design ============================ Graphic Design https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2jykFOD1AWYL4gqHMENAqitCh4Jr1eSp ============================ Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/intrigano ============================ https://scsa.ge/en/online-courses/ https://www.facebook.com/cyberassociation/ Graphic design is in a period of rapid expansion and innovation. Designers are tasked with deciding how a message will look and be conveyed, as well as what the message says and even if it should be said at all. As a graphic designer, you have the power and responsibility of the ideas and objects that shape our culture. You will develop skills to create beautiful objects, make meaningful messages, to be persuasive, grow businesses, inspire emotional responses, and make ideas accessible to others. Graphic design is a dialogue with the world, leaving a record of that dialogue for later generations. As a graphic designer you will be able to apply your expertise to a variety of fields, giving you a broad range of career, creative, and intellectual options. Because of the diversity of applications of graphic design, there is no such thing as a typical design practice! This course, as well as the other courses in the Graphic Design Specialization, are meant to be general introductions to the topic and are suitable for students with little to no experience in design. Knowing how to create and deliver strong, compelling visual messages is beneficial for a person working in any field, from education to business to technology. Students with more design experience may also get a lot out of these courses—there are plenty of additional assignments and resources to supplement your existing knowledge. Module 4 Fundamentals of Composition This week we are going to look at how designers work with visual contrasts, cropping, hierarchy and direction in single images and complex compositions. You'll find out how to control and use scale, weight, direction, texture, and space in a composition, and how to compose work that ranges from the complex to the minimal. In the first peer review assignment you'll create your own abstract compositions that demonstrate your knowledge and control of visual contrast. In the final optional assignment, you can use all your skills from the entire course to create experimental compositions in the form of a poster for a mythical band. This last project is optional, but I strongly suggest you try it out, it'll let you grow and apply your design knowledge and really enjoy and express yourself in your design work!

How to make your motion design frames more dimensional. Create dynamic compositions with this one trick. One tip to make your designs more impactful. One simple tip for how to make your designs, photos, and illustrations better. Blind creative director, Matthew Encina, joins Chris Do in this quick tutorial/lesson on creating more dynamic compositions. To keep things simple and clearly illustrate what I mean, I’ve put together a few greyscale examples that show how adding contrast to your frames can drastically improve your compositions and effectiveness of your storytelling. If you ever find yourself stuck with a boring composition, push the contrast in the value, weight, size, and color of your subjects. Start drastically, then pull it back. One formula I like to use often is: 1 really BIG object — usually the subject, and most important element in the frame. 1–2 medium sized objects — secondary elements to give meaning to the main object. Tons of very tiny objects — tertiary elements to give movement and additional context for the frame. How can I learn to paint more like Sargent, Sorolla, etc? Copying the masters?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg3oQ_OqQ_o&list=PLM4S2hGZDSE5SOht-nruKVOvuR5lrCw2T&index=1 First broadcast: Sep 2014. Documentary in which painter and critic Matthew Collings charts the rise of abstract art over the last 100 years, whilst trying to answer a set of basic questions that many people have about this often-baffling art form. How do we respond to abstract art when we see it? Is it supposed to be hard or easy? When abstract artists chuck paint about with abandon, what does it mean? Does abstract art stand for something or is it supposed to be understood as just itself? These might be thought of as unanswerable questions, but by looking at key historical figures and exploring the private world of abstract artists today, Collings shows that there are, in fact, answers. Living artists in the programme create art in front of the camera using techniques that seem outrageously free, but through his friendly-yet-probing interview style Collings immediately establishes that the work always has a firm rationale. When Collings visits 92-year-old Bert Irvin in his studio in Stepney, east London he finds that the colourful works continue experiments in perceptual ideas about colour and space first established by abstract art pioneers such as Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky in the 1910s. Other historic artists featured in the programme include the notorious Jackson Pollock, the maker of drip paintings, and Mark Rothko, whose abstractions often consist of nothing but large expanses of red. Collings explains the inner structure of such works. It turns out there are hidden rules to abstraction that viewers of this intriguing, groundbreaking programme may never have expected.
