"If the foundations be destroyed, what shall the righteous do?" The answer is, "We rebuild, in the power of God."
The founders understood that without faith there is no freedom and without virtue freedom cannot survive. They understood that if those foundations are destroyed so perishes the land. Is it time to build a wall of prayer? Dear friends, “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3) Do we sit back on our hands and say, “Well, they are getting what they deserve.” Or do we lift our hands and say, “Oh Lord, have mercy on us. Restore us. Rebuild us. Renew us. Rekindle what we once had and what is in danger of being lost.” Because today many individuals on all sides of the political spectrum and on all sides of the aisle recognize that we are a divided people. It is so easy when you sense division to see it as a matter of them versus us, battling against the forces of this side or the other side. What the Bible says is this is not a battle between them and us. This is a spiritual struggle. This has at it’s very core a spiritual dimension that cannot be ignored and it must be understood. Listen to what the apostle Paul says to the Ephesians. Ephesians 6:12 is powerful word on spiritual warfare and on what is going on in the land today. He said, “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” The apostle understood what the Bible has proclaimed all along, and that is that there is a war being raged in the heavenly’s, a war being waged in the spiritual realms for the hearts and souls of people. “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood.” This is not about right and left, Democrat and Republican, conservative and liberal. This is a spiritual war and only spiritual weapons can win that war. Is it time to build a wall of prayer? Absolutely because God answers prayer. He has done it before. He can do it again.
. When freedom is divorced from virtue and faith, freedom perishes and tyranny emerges. It is time to put into practice what our founders understood both intellectually and personally, that awakening is absolutely essential for the perpetuation of freedom? Our nation today is divided. It is a time when God’s people need to pray as never before, because the prayers of God’s people are heard by the living God. He responds when His children cry out to Him. Is it time to build a wall for of prayer for America? Here in Minnesota we would say, “You betcha!” All over America, I believe people will say, “Amen!”
What is prayer wall and who builds it? First of all please understand that we are not talking about physical structure. There has been a lot of talk about building a wall. This is not something physical. This is spiritual. A wall of prayer protects us from the spiritual forces of darkness in the heavenly realm and it binds us together in the name of the living God, understanding that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but instead against spiritual powers and authorities in the heavenly realms. Therefore, we cry out for one another. We do not cry out against one another. We cry out for a nation that we love. We understand that a wall of prayer is inviting people to come before the only One who can renew a nation and reestablish the very foundations upon which freedom flourishes and that is the living God. We cry out to Him because “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3) That answer is we rebuild. We build that wall of prayer.
